This Windmill Tour is a nice example of tours that you can plan in Belgium

Plan your own trips and tours

It is so easy to plan a trip in Belgium. With the help of www.belgium-mapped-out.com we planned a windmill tour in Belgium, which took us only a couple of minutes.

Example Tour

This time we have chosen a tour along 9 old windmills in order to take some nice pictures. In fact we planned for 10 old windmills, but as the night set in, we skipped number 10, and drove back to the starting point to close the loop. Much to our surprise the windmill at our start and end point was nicely lighted up, so we could take a picture by night.

As can be seen in EveryTrail

We placed the track and photos on the EveryTrail web site, as can be seen below.

15 categories to date

As of the end of January our site belgium-mapped-out.com contains 15 categories with the exact GPS-Coordinates of 1230 points of interest(POIs). We count adding at least 15 more.

These are the first 15 categories:

  • Abbeys
  • Arboreta
  • Beguinages
  • Belfries
  • Breweries
  • Castles
  • Festivities
  • GolfCourses
  • Belgian Lace
  • Modern Wind Turbines
  • Night Clubs
  • Old Windmills
  • Splendid Views
  • Splendid Villages
  • War Cemeteries and Memorials

Other tours

There is no need at all to build trips with points from only one category. It will be even more logic to try to combine the points of several categories in a small region. Only exception is maybe the category War Cemeteries and Memorials in the Ypres region.

Have you plans to visit Belgium one day?

Have a look at the "All POIs together" page and from there to the Google Earth pages and finally the "POIs in GPS Navigator" page.

Plan ahead

The actual planning is done in the Google Earth program on a desktop computer. Unless you take a Notebook with you, the planning must be done at home.
