The right settings for a flight with Google Earth

How to fly over the castle tours?

Fly with Google Earth

When you open a KMZ file with Google Earth, the program places it under Temporary Places, down in the Places pane. In this example it is the "Voeren Vise Castle Tour". The Waypoints are already checked. These are the locations of the photos. If you check "Tracks", the tour as we drove it will be shown on the Google Earth image. You will notice that a rectangular bounding box appears with a slighter darker image for the territory covered by the whole castle tour.

If you click the plus (+) sign in front of "Tracks" a new level, called "ACTIVE LOG" opens. This name comes from our GPS76 receiver that recorded the driven tour.

Extend ACTIVE LOG by clicking on the plus sign in front of it. Now several new levels are opened. The only important for us is "Path". Click once on it to highlight it. Now you are ready to fly over the entire castle tour.

Push the play button (the small black triangle) under the Places pane.

Click "Tools" and then "Options". This opens the following window where you can change all kind of flight parameters under the "Touring" tab.

We used these values, but some experimenting will maybe result in an more satisfying configuration for you.

Warning

When you change parameters here, the flight will stop and you can only fly again, beginning at the start point.
